A little over a week ago I was asked to write a review on my order placed with LB Barbeque Accessories. I rated them very poor due to, as I later learned, a mixup in my order. When the owners learn of the error they immediately sent, at no charge, the correct order. This is an outstanding business owned by people who are concerned about their customers and want to do the right thing. Hickory Barbecue Wood Smoker Chips

hickory is bold and robust . The most common wood used.

It's kind of strange reviewing wood but here goes...
LB chips are good quality wood but the chips are smaller in size than that which you will find in the same size bag available at bass pro shops, gander mountain or cabela's. If you plan on using these in a little smoker box or foil pouch on your gas grill, then this product is fine. If you plan to use these in a vertical or off-set smoker, then stay away; they burn up too quick. As an example, I usually change out my chips in my vertical smoker every 45 mins to 1 hr. With these chips, it was every half hour and as you may know, every time you open the smoker door, you have to wait for the smoker to come back up to temp. This is a big negative because it adds to your cooking time immensely.
I can't knock the wood quality or the vendor, just that it looks like they put this wood through a shredder and chopped it too fine.

Cherry Barbecue Wood Smoker Chips

I bought 4 bags of different woods because I can find anything like this where I live and it made the shipping work out better. Soak it for 30 minutes. Put it in a smoker box. Place smoker under the grate on the V bars just above the fire. I bought grape, apple, cherry, pear woods. My Chicken tastes awesome. Everyone raves about the meat and wants to know what seasoning I'm using. I just noticed they have nectarine wood now. That will be on the top of my list next order.


When I placed an order for a smoker the offer for these smoking chips popped up. What I did not realize until too late is that they were from another vendor - and that the shipping price would be a whopping $15! I felt really ripped off.


I'll be using this today to smoke some Bork ribs. They wood adds a slight cherry taste.
