These are long and beautifully made, with beefy, stay-cool wooden handles and long skewers that hold lot of goodies. They keep food from twirling on the skewer but tend not to split the veges as much as flat skewers. Worth every cent. Like other reviewers have said, these are a high-quality, well designed, last a lifetime product. They are so nice I actually look forward to using them. They are worth every penny. I like to grill over a wood fire, and the Super Skewer has no peers. The twin, thin, SS tines are easy to load, won't split the veggies, and the food stays put when you flip them. The wood handles keeps the burn cream in the cabinet. They are nice and LONG to bridge a gas grill with the grates removed, or to hold wieners and marshmallows over a campfire.

I bought both the regular and the heavy duty (thicker tines) super skewers and love them both. The regular are fine for standard kabobs, the heavy-duty will hold just about anything else you may want to grill. I am going to experiment using two or three skewers side by side (4to 6 tines) for roasts, whole birds, or maybe even fish.

If you know someone that kabobs, they would be shocked at the quality of these compared to what they are probably now using (hey, give a gift - get an invite to a great BBQ) Maybe the best thing about the super skewers is that they are made in the USA by a small business. My wife and I have been trying to eat healthier. Less fried food and more fire cooked, fat burned grilling is our goal. I love cooking on the grille, all year round, and I'm always looking at new or improved grille accessories. When I saw these, I thought this would absolutely be the way to go. With shish-kabobs, we could cook the fat right off the meat, get some savory and health vegetables thrown in, and live longer in theory.

Well, we might need some skewers that will last as long as we plan to. I've purchased enough cheap BBQ products that last MAYBE two seasons before falling apart. Cheap skewers get rusty, and rust doesn't mix too well with food. Wooden skewers are basically one use, and I'm planning on a lifestyle change here - I really want something durable.

I turned these up on Amazon while searching, and I hoped they would be as good as advertised. I went with the six pack deal - enough for ourselves and guests. When these arrived, they looked and felt heavy duty. None of the skewer prongs were bent at all, and the handles looked really sturdy. My wife even commented on how good they looked (better than the picture, actually). For once, she didn't think I made another useless grill purchase.

Let me tell you (I already appear to be doing that), we used these about a dozen times, and they all that and a bucket of fat free chips. The double prongs ABSOLUTELY make rotation a breeze, and not one lost vegetable falling into the fire (I hate watching the end veggie fall into the fire while my stomach is grumbling - why do you mock me end vegetable)! I purhased a cast-iron smoker box (with hickory and mesquite chips), and they both go together VERY well. My wife loves the hickory chip smoked chicken and veggies combo meal. I found a kabob spice recipe on the internet, too, that we use. What a great way to cut the calories but keep the flavour. All the spices amount to hardly anything, and the smoked hickory flavouring is calorie free!

We couldn't be happier with this purchase. Do the kabobs right - don't waste another dime (or end vegetable) on junky skewers! One small hint: we recommend spraying the skewers with non-stick spray before cooking beef (or anything if you prefer) - everything slides off nicely.

I've been skewer grilling for 40 years, since I used to help my uncle with his catering business as a young boy. These are the best skewers I've ever used! They are very well made, with quality materials, and are just the right length to put on the grill with the wooden handles extending outside the hood area. No more burnt fingers and fumbling to turn the meat! The wooden grip is perfect and they are surprisingly light-weight too. And, the biggest advantage, meat doesn't spin around and veggies don't split. I love em, and have reordered for our new home. . . . I purchased 2 of these GL-04's. The cover for the battery compartment is poorly designed. On both units I bought, I literally had to use a screw driver to pry open the battery compartment. I can assure this was done as a very last resort. As a result, it now doesn't shut tightly. The battery cover is not at all weather resistant (even before I tried to open it) and the list of features listed on the box, make no weather resistant claims. Such claims are only made online "Use rain or shine, outdoor and salt-spray tested". In fact the instructions actually state "store the lamp indoors when not in use and DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER". Wanna hear some more false advertisement? The instructions state "The lamps charge lasts up to 1.75 hrs. after a days exposure to full sun". The online advertisement states "it can shine up to 4 hours continuously after full sunlight charging".

"BBQ Pit Light Shines Brightly" 2008-01-09

One of my many hobbies is building custom BBQ pits. Some of these things are trailer mounted. A typical cookoff might start with set up in the late evening, cooking all night long (slow smoking a brisket is an 8 to 12 hour event!) and prepping for the judges around lunch time the next day. This light took care of one of my issues - how to see inside the pit in the middle of the night without having to hold a flashlight or lantern in one hand. I clamp this light in place during the day and let the sunshine charge it up. (Alternately you can take the batteries out and charge them up at home with a standard battery charger.) At night I can turn the light on for a few minutes to check the temperature, swivel the light out of the way of the way door with the 18in flex neck, open up and check inside. My big pit is 30in in diameter and 48in long inside. Being able to turn the light to where ever I need it is great. It is bright enough to see what you're looking for but I gave it 4 stars because it wasn't quite as bright as I had hoped. Still works very well for its intended use and I would recommend it to anybody cooking out at night.

I always start grilling when it starts to get dark,wintertime, and always need a flashlight. Now I don't have that problem anymore. This is a great product. No skewering the meat with a three foot rod, just set the meat or large vegetables in the basket and tighten the novel clamps to secure the food. I can easily cook two large chickens in this 6" (wide) basket but if you want to cook a turkey, Weber says the 8" can accommodate up to a 12 lb turkey.

The motor is quiet and reliable. My only complaint, and it is really minor, is that another clamp or two would make it easier to cook more, smaller items.

I have used a lot of grill skewers and these are great because they are strong and the metal end works well for piercing tough meat and vegetables without being sharp enough to cause the occasional finger cut. However, the only caveat is that you must keep the handles away from the flame and sticking out of the grill by several inches (thereby making the meat closest to the handle usually undercooked). If you don't, the rubber melts (why is there rubber on something meant for the grill?) and the slider will be stuck in place. If this happens (it did with mine) it really doesn't decrease the utility of the item, but you can't use the slider portion anymore. I bought these and will buy again though.

You will be able to lift a big piece of meat with this tool with one hand very easily! Much better than tongs which require more hand strength to keep the tongs closed AND lift the food.

This type of turner isn't good for any steaks, chops, chicken, or of course fish. To quote Raichlen: "The proper way to turn meat on a grill is with tongs or a spatula. Never stab the meat with a carving fork - unless you want to drain the flavor-rich juices onto the coals." This, for all intents and purposes is exactly the same as a carving fork.

"Useable, but has a major downside..." 2009-06-14

These thermometers seem to be essentially the same as others I've purchased in the past from different vendors. I wonder if they are all being OEMed from the same manufacturer but with different printing on the dials to customize them for the seller.

One thing that not all the sellers tell you (but Cusinart, to their credit, does in the included instructions) is that these thermometers are not safe to use on your grill in the manner you would expect and desire. Instead they make a big deal about them being dishwasher safe! What is not mentioned on the web page is that you must insert and immediately remove the thermometers once you've taken a reading. You are not supposed to leave them in the meat while it is on the grill and the lid is closed. Apparently these "Outdoor Grilling" thermometers can't take the heat in a grill. I have used another version of these sold under the Taylor brand without knowing about this restriction and they did indeed stop working after a few sessions of being left in the meat while it was grilling.

So, if you find it convenient to insert these thermometers into hot steaks and them remove them (they are also now hot) after a minute or so then you might find them handy. And this particular set of 4 I purchased was reasonably accurate or at least consistent (three read essentially the same in 140 degree water and one was a slight bit low but probably still useable for this application)

I wish I could find somemone who made a grill thermometer that could actually stand up to the heat in a charcoal or propane grill. If that's what you were looking for, then you might want to keep looking...

I've been having a difficult time finding alder chips locally. After trying several stores, I ordered these via Amazon. They work fine. One small gripe.... the minimum unit of order is 12 pounds and I would prefer to order a smaller size.

I haven't used the chips yet since I haven't done any fish. But if you do add them tightly packed to the smoke box for the first smoke.

I've been using hickory to smoke salmon since you can't buy alder in Florida. Alder is way, way better. I bought the 12 pound sack so they will probably be burying some of it with me. Great taste. Sweet and mild. Not as strong and smokey as hickory or mesquite.

Perfect for smoking king and sockeye salmon. Make sure you use a good brine solution the prior night. Alder gives it a sweet smoked flavor! Everyone raves about it.

Simply pour them into the basin of your charcoal grill and you're ready to barbecue.

I remember driving through Dallas once and thinking that they intentionally made some of the highway ramps ridiculously large because "everythings bigger in Texas" whether it needs to be or not. [Don't really know if that's true, it was just a thought going through my head].

When I received this chimney and the rib rack from the same brand, I had a flashback. They're ridiculously large, almost gratuitously. The rib rack doesn't fit in my smoker at all (well, not if I want to actually close the lid and smoke) and guess what; this barely fits the firebox on my Silver Smoker. I can just barely squeeze it in there, and I definitely can't close the lid over it.

I guess "bigger is better" for some, and if you have a really large grill or smoker and always wished for a bigger chimney, this may be the one for you. Frankly, I think it's a tad overdone and regret being stuck with it.

I loved it when i first got this chimney starter, but it is definitely not worth the money paid for it, it should be cheaper. The paint is now peeling on each of the units i bought, seems that it can't handle the high temperature that the coals get to while getting ready. either they should use a better quality of paint or get rid of it all together. and i have no idea why it has that secondary metal handle, seems pointless. better yet, i know why it's there, but i never use it nor see the need for it.

I purchased one for the extra capacity but wish I had not given my smaller one to my brother-in-law. Within a year the middle had burned completly through and the device was useless. Going back to the $15 dollar ones that last forever.

I wish some reviews had been posted for this when I purchased it 6 months ago! I bought it for the extra capacity and the feeling that the extra money would bring a heavier gauge steel...wrong. Pass up on this and stick to the sub $20 ones that last 2+ years of heavy use. Mine is a piece of garbage now...great concept, poor follow through.

Bought this starter at BBQ's Galore for it's large capacity and hefty feel. After three uses the rivets popped out of the sides that hold the grate, I assume from the weight of a full load of charcoal and high heat. The "heat resistant paint" flaked off and the inside rusted despite a dry summer in San Diego. The bottom sagged, I had to drill and screw sheet metal screws into the bottom grate to get a few more uses from this ill made expensive mistake. I borrowed a friends Weber that he's had for 5 years and it is a much better product. The chimmeny effect does work but barely with this poorly designed product. Get the Weber, I just ordered mine from Amazon. I may buy three (BBQ Gifts) for the price of this wretched device.

I bought this for a 3 burner stove that I got at Sports Academy,not a Camp Chef,hoping it would fit. It fits fine and seems well made. Makes moving the stove easy. Looking forward to first camping trip!
Also it has a small zipper opening on the side allowing you to grasp the stove handle for carrying with one hand:)

This bag is very nice. It has handles on both ends, and rolls - which is great because the stove inside is VERY HEAVY! But, it's not meant to also carry the flat 2-burner griddle that came with the stove (you're supposed to purchase an additional bag for that - but we made ours fit in this one). It also doesn't have handles on the long sides so that you can carry it like a suitcase - you have to either have a really long arm-span or roll it.

Overall, for what it is meant to do, it is a good, sturdy bag. Just know that it has little extra room and could use an extra handle.

A Camp Chef 3 burner stove is not light. This bag with the rollers makes transporting the stove a snap for even my kids. The stove fits great with some extra room for accessories. Solid construction as well I expect to have this bag for many camp outs.

Cheap junk, not usual Cuisinart quality, unfortunately,

In less than a couple of months its starting to rust, and the bristles of the brush are wearing down already.

Look elsewhere for a premium brush.

Finally someone put some thought into a cleaning brush. Thanks Cuisinart! This grill brush has lots of simple little things that make it very helpful when I am cleaning off all the charred mess my food leaves behind. I love the hook on the end. It is useful when I need to lift up the grate (without getting my hands all dirty), but I figured out it also works great as a scraper to clean under and in between each grate. I also like how they made the brush head easy to change (no screwdriver needed). I used to leave this messy job to my husband...but now it's not so bad.
